Reasons Google Changed Their Search Engine for Article Sites

Google changes to their search engine rankings and the new algorithm is affecting more than a few freelance writers that use article writing content sites for income streams. The world of search engines changed with new algorithms and the before and after results of these changes make article writing sites look quite different.
Many freelance writers that have been affected directly with content they have submitted to article writing sites are asking why Google made these changes.  According to Google there were several reasons for the changes that were put in place for article sites and why Google changed their search engine for article sites.

Losing high quantity

Google wanted to remove low quality content from their search engine result top spots. Content farms were identified as a culprit in producing hundreds of thousands of search engine results returning low quality high quantity information for Google users.  Content farms are defined as sites which produce high quantity but low quality content with the manipulation of SEO and keywords.  Google wants them out of their rankings.
Content farms have targeted on popular keywords and keyword phrases along with SEO content to rank higher, but provided little of anything in the way of quality and useful information.  For those readers searching for quality and useful information, content farms are returning tons of irrelevant information with little or no use which is a waste of time and resources. The new algorithm will clean house of these types of article sites.

Connecting with better quality

Google’s official blog indicated they wanted to provide search engine readers or those people searching for information with more pertinent, applicable information to any query made. In order to provide this Google must continually enhance and tune their algorithms to weed out material that does not provide useful information and content farm misinformation. They want to not only remove erroneous content, but bring quality information to readers and search engine users.

There was a two prong change to see this occur. The first changes were barely noticeable. However, the second half changes affected nearly 12% of search engine inquiries. Google wants to make certain low ranking sites are ranked low and not unintentionally high.  Any sites copying content from other sites, adding minimal value and are not providing useful information should be ranked low. Simultaneously they want to create an atmosphere where high ranking sites are rewarded for their quality content. Sites with original content, information such as in depth reports, thorough investigation and research should be rewarded.

Getting rid of “scrapers”

Google indicated they were really concerned with scrapers. Scrapers are another content farm issue where they will “scrape” content from other places on the web and claim it as their own.  Google search engine is hoping their new algorithm will provide credit to the original content owners and ranking them higher in search engines result pages after queries by readers. In addition to the original source of article content receiving credit, scrapers will be denied display or excluded from result pages.

Google is attempting to make the search engine return information better for all of its users with their new algorithm for retrieving article site content.
