Do you have an interest in writing Science Fiction? Many of these freelance writing jobs are difficult to find for freelancer writers. I have located a couple of links to some great paying Science Fiction freelance writing jobs and listed them here.

  • Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine- Seeking stories that will appeal to science fiction and fantasy readers. The SF element may be slight, but it should be present. We prefer character-oriented stories. We receive a lot of fantasy fiction, but never enough science fiction or humor. Do not query for fiction; send the entire manuscript. We publish fiction up to 25,000 words in length.Payment is 6-9 cents per word on acceptance. We buy first North American and foreign serial rights and an option on anthology rights.     • Analog magazine- Analog will consider material submitted by any writer, and consider it solely on the basis of merit. We are definitely eager to find and develop new, capable writers. The science can be physical, sociological, psychological. The technology can be anything from electronic engineering to biogenetic engineering. But the stories must be strong and realistic, with believable people (who needn't be human) doing believable things–no matter how fantastic the background might be.     • Asimov's Science Fiction magazine- Asimov's Science Fiction magazine is an established market for science fiction stories. Asimov’s pays 6-8 cents per word for short stories up to 7,500 words, and 6-6.5 cents per word for longer material.     • Dragon and Dungeon magazine- Editors seek for two kinds of content: articles and adventures.     • Escape Pod magazine- EP is a science fiction magazine. The editors are interested in two lengths of fiction -- “short fiction” and “flash fiction.” We’re primarily interested in short fiction. We want short stories between 2,000 and 6,000 words. The sweet spot’s somewhere between 3,500 and 5,000 words. We pay $.05 a word for new fiction at this length, $.03 a word for reprints.     2. Any pay less than 5 cents is too little because the magazines are making a huge profit off of these sci fi stories. Do you lose the rights to the stories you submit?

      I would be interested in writing a sci-fi story, albeit it's actually a real experience that defies science. It happened to my dad while we were camping up in the mountains many years ago.
