How to Get More Done with Not Enough Time

Many of us in the freelance writing community find we have a lot of work to do and not enough time. There are some days when you may work all day and feel as if you haven’t accomplished anything.

When you find yourself in this overwhelming situation, not enough time but more than enough work there is a way to have more positive outcomes in less time. You need to find a method to restructure your work and simplify it.

There is an easy way to accomplish this task.

Make a list. The list will include only the most important things that need to be accomplished

What are the things that you need to do to create the most important article or work on your plate? These are the things that should be included on your list. Tweaking your website cannot be done today. Reorganizing or deleting old emails out of your email folder is not on this list.

Only the most important things should be included. This is a "to do" list, not "I want to do" list.

You need to work effectually and don’t worry about the production of work

We live in a production driven society. In other words we judge ourselves many times on the quantity of the work produced instead of the quality. Both of these can go hand in hand to some extent.

Remember what you put out has your name on it. Your reputation is important and you want the quality to shine through. This is especially important for a freelancer that is starting out with a new client or website and blog content.

Make sure the work you are producing is getting the desired results. You may put out a lot of work but if the quality is not good, what’s the point?

Work when you are at your peak of creativeness

Determine what time of day you are most creative. You can feel if your creative juices are flowing or if you have simply a trickle.

If you are in the middle of everything else and being interrupted, unable to really create something you want your stamp of approval on, don’t work. Find the time when you can pump it out and it is something that you are proud of.

For some its early morning, others enjoy the late night hours. Whatever works for you, go with it. If you find yourself not at that summit, don’t bother trying to produce something that you feel would be of highest quality.

Many musicians, designers, filmmakers and other creative types enjoy the late night hours. This doesn’t mean you need to set your alarm clock for 3am, simply find your niche of time and go with it. This could be trial and error until you get it right.

Getting more results in less time is the ultimate goal. Try these suggestions. If you have others that you have found work for you, please take the time to share with us.

  1. Good advice. It applies to other areas of life as well. I am a firm believer in lists. Sometimes just the satisfaction of checking something off my list makes me feel less stressed and overwhelmed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. I truly appreciate it. Have a blessed weekend!
